Alright,

So I am having a hard time trying to decide which one I like better and figured you guys wouldn't mind the eye candy. The griptillian actually looked a lot better then I thought when I got it in person. Which one do you guys like better? (Yes I changed the blade on the Ares because the satin blade really set off the carbon fiber, the black blade looked like crap, actually.) I am going to bead blast the original M2 blade and then mirror polish it to ward off any corrosion. Enjoy the pictures and let me know which one you like. I will probably have that highly polished M2 blade on here soon.

that Griptillian is spectacular! The texturing of the CF says "grip me!"
It's hard to compare with the Ares since that blade is (aesthetic shudder) CE.

Ya I figured that about the serrated edge. But it does look better then the black coated M2. For some reason that just made the knife look no good, really. I put the satin blade and it was much better, really set off the carbon fiber much more.
Ya, I like the way they did the griptillian carbon fiber with the grooves cut in the handle. Really gets a different look on the carbon fiber. I love benchmades carbon fiber. I had spydercos and, well it was nothing special to me. But benchmades is really grippy and looks much better.

On a side note, as much as I love CF, it doesn't work for me when it comes to the Rift. IMO the standard scales on the 950 looks much better.

I like the CF on the Rift, it is the blade shape that I can't get used to, specifically the choil area (or lack of a proper choil, that gap makes no sense to me).

Here is what an original CFHS looks like, BTW:

Probably my favorite BM LE:

The Gold Grip is OK but it does not even come close to the big classics. And I do not like the finish on the hardware.

Actually, the original did not have the split tail clip , ya, I know, minor detail. But I like the split tail better, lol, that's why mine has one. Alright I will post pics of the polished plain edge M2 blade soon, just about finished. Required a ton of time to rub it shiny, it was a pain but well worth it.

Here is the best picture that I could get. I can't get good lighting at night time here, but this will have to do. Here is the 730CHFS with a polished finish, and it is the M2 high steel blade that is polished. I know, some of you are gasping right now for ruining a collectors piece, but I like it much better as it is now without the black coating. And this sucker cuts like no ones business!!!!!

I like the Rifts Carbon Fiber handle best of all, my kids call it dragon skin. I love the way they cut the rift handle. I still love the ares the best of all. It's just such a beautiful, classy knife. I found that the black coating suits the Griptilian just fine because it's all black. But the Stainless steel liners just of the ares just did not go with the black blade at all. Now everything is how it should have been from the get go.

I love it! Did you to that satin job yourself? It must be pretty tough to remove the coating...
I would ban two things: serrations and coated blades.:D

Ya, M2 is not a very nice steel to work with while trying to get a satin finish, very abrasive resistant. There are still some slight scratches in the steel but it was taking forever so I polished the hell out of it with a polishing wheel and some green rogue, and it polished right up. I used a sandblaster to get the black coating off. It took a LOT of time to rub the satin finish on, but it was well worth it in my book. If I had to keep just one knife, it would definitely be this ares. The added silver clip makes it perfect. Seriously though, the black finish on the ares blade had me so disappointed that I almost didn't like the knife at all, and it is one of my all time favorite knife designs. It made it look that bad in my eyes. I really couldn't believe what a dramatic difference it made with a polished blade, it was like night and day. I love the knife now.
