Just got a cheery letter from the Customs and Excise Dept that my HI WWII Khukuri has been held pending a license for import restricted items. Apparently the fact that you can buy a 20" machete in just about every flea market and hardware store in this country is lost on them.

Mohd, if you are still lurking I sure could appreciate some advice and/or help. Otherwise, if anybody's got his email, could you forward my plea please?

Thanks
Andrew Limsk

Mohd's email address is listed; you can use the email button at the bottom of any of his posts -- but I used my stupendous Super Moderator powers to find it even faster than searching out one of his posts -- it's jaharo@hotmail.com

Put in a good word for me if you get a chance, and maybe someday I'll be a Super Duper Whooper Moderator.... :)

Bad luck, Andrew. I have a couple of other customers in Malaysia who have imported khukuris successfully. If you need help from here let me know and I'll do what I can.

Thanks Cougar & Uncle Bill.

Customs are totally unpredicatable. I know one forumite besides Mohd who got a 18" AK from the US - breezed thorough customs without a problem too.

We'll see what happens. I need to get some idea of my options before going over to the customs office to negotiate. Hopefully I won't pick a day when the officer I talk too is having a really bad one...

Try to get it unstuck in either direction. Something along the line of.... oh, sorry the wrong paper work wasn't completed, rather than keep it in customs storage lets' send it back to the shipper while we work on putting the proper paper work in place. Sending back may not be the best option, but it is better than loosing it or incurring ridiculus warehousing charges.

Good Luck!

What -- you want to put our buddy out of a job??? Let's put Blues in charge of all Customs everywhere. Then no knife shipment will ever be held up or delayed -- as soon as they identify it as a knife they'll RUSH it along, stop right in the middle of inspecting packages to hustle that one to the front of the line, tell the mailman to RUN NOT WALK to your house with it!

We need somebody in charge who has a sense of priorities. The shipments of fruit can get a little riper, the dogs and cats and snakes won't mind being in their pet carriers a little longer -- the knives must go through!

Hello Pakcik Bill, Rusty, Yvsa, Couger ... everybody ... I am on a long leave since Dec 3 ... no acceess to Internet!

Redvenom - you have my email in your Inbox - as Pakcik Bill mentioned ... Pakcik Bill did successfully shipped Khukuris to few customers in Malaysia ie. KL & JB without problem of permit or liscence - I hope you already collected your WW II by now!
