I don't understand this trend. I see so many knives with it. I have two knives with single screws. Even bathed in a vat of blue loctite, the quickly work their way loose.

Is it for aesthetics? Clips get bent, warped, etc which is annoying enough.

I have had a couple get loose, but I just wrap a little Teflon tape on the screw and it ends the problem for me. Different makers do the clips differently, so maybe yours are more prone to getting loose-don't know

I like it and there are some things they must do right for it to work but not heard or experienced much in the way of screws really loosening or anything to a point of an issue. Bent clips happen with more than 1 screw and usually due to a overall bad clip design in my experience.

I guess maybe with the knives I've bought I got screwed:rolleyes::eek:

There are a couple of knives I like that only have the single screw, and it's making me hesitant to buy because I don't want to have regularly tighten it.

One of the earliest folders i had with a clip was the gerber ez out.
The clip was secured via the pivot screw/nut.
And it was further held in to position by part of the clip which was embeded into the handle and acted as a lateral anchor of sorts.
Never had problems with the clip com8ng loose.
I guessed it helped that the pivot itself was no puny screw...

Shiro F95T clip has one screw, with the unique slotted head. It's the only screw on the knife I cannot get loose! The base of the clip sits in a milled out pocket, so it is anchored from rotating, but that screw isn't coming loose under normal circumstances.

My only single screw clip is on my Kizer Vigor. The clip on this knife is also screwed into a pocket in the titanium handle, and has not loosened after moderate use. The clip screw is very substantial.

Your shiro should also have a single bearing ball milled into two dents under your clip which also prevents it from moving...so if you get that screw loose...dont loose the bearing!! :) just an FYI.

Well, this gives me more confidence. Thanks y'all. The screw on the Kizer came loose (again) and I can't fix it it with a broken arm.

My DPx HEST f clip has a single screw on the end which is also a glass breaker, the clip wraps around the end for a positive lock in and is the best deep carry clip on the market. Just sayin.

Crkt Hissatsu. Not only is there one screw, but the clip is set into molded plastic. So when the clip shifts about, it permanently screws up the handle making it look like s#!t, and more prone to movement. Another bang up job from the fine folks at crkt.
