Arizona has long one of the most gun friendly states, I'd say top 3. They have long had open carry without any permit required and a few years ago started allowing concealed carry without a permit as well. They still issue permits for reciprocity reasons, much like Alaska does, but don't require it. Their knife laws are more or less non existent.
Their constitution doesn't define what "arms" are, but it specifies the right to keep and bear them. It does, however, bar private citizens or entities to organize an armed force (tell that to the Minutemen!). Luckily for the people Arizona, the writers of the constitution spared them the horribly convoluted phrasing of the US Constitution. Had our nation's Founding Fathers don this, we wouldn't have anywhere near the controversy we deal with today. Or, if you're Justice Stevens, add 5 words that would "fix the Constitution"...google it if you want.
