Arizona Laws?

Hello all. I have a question for those of you folks who live in Arizona. I am planning a trip to Tombstone in a couple of weeks and I have a fixed blade Benchmade with less than a 4 inch blade and a horizontal kydex sheath that I would like to carry. It will probably be concealed most of the time. Is this illegal in Arizona? I don't want to break any laws or get into any trouble with my knife. Any replies will be greatly apprciated.

I see people walking around Safeway with a 1911 on one side and a 10" Bowie on the other. No one even blinks an eye at that. I doubt that anyone would even notice your tiny 4" knife.

Hey, this is Arizona. We still have shoot-outs in the streets.:D

(Check the news for Chino Valley)

Tombstone. The town too tough to die. I doubt that anyone would even notice your tiny 4" knife.

I love this place. :)

Thank you very much UFFDA. That is what I wanted to hear. I will have a 1911 on my right side but I didn't know about the knife.

The knife is not for protection. If I were carrying a knife for that I would bring my Marine Kabar or my Cold Steel Recon Scout. The Kimber SIS Pro is for that.

I do have one more question. I plan to bring a Winchester .44 Mag. Trapper. I suppose that will be ok also? I am coming from Houston, Texas and plan to be in Arizona 4 or 5 days. Just bringing the fire power in case we get stranded on the road out in the boonies.

That's good. From your first post I was worried that you were coming specifically to see Tombstone. Tombstone is cool, but if that was the sole purpose of your trip, it would have been a waste. Like taking a trip to Disneyworld just to ride the Teacups. If you're in/around Tucson for a couple days, there's the Pima Air and Space museum, which is awesome, the Titan Missal museum, which is pretty cool, Colossal Cave is just outside of town, and the Desert Museum (the country's first zoo with all the animals in their natural environment). Old Tucson Studios is kinda cool too, but a bit redundant if you're also seeing Tombstone.

And of course, there's also that big crack in the ground up north, if you want to drive that far. And on the way to the big crack, there's the big dent.

Wherever you go, if it's soon, be aware that it's monsoon season. A ton of rain can come very hard, very fast. When you see a dip in the road that says "DO NOT ENTER WHEN FLOODED", do not enter it if it's flooded. Bring some extra food/water in case you get stranded between washes.

sorry to get off subject, but there's a rainy season in AZ? i was intrested in relocating, out there, and the one of the biggest reasons was to get away from all the rain in FL (i'm a biker). how much does it rain, out there. i assumed it was significantly less than here, due to how much more vegatation we have.

Arizona & NM do have their Monsoon season, about September-November. Almost daily afternoon Thunder boomers that last for and hour or two then the sun comes back out. It's sunny right up until jst before the rain comes. Seen an inch or more in an hour up min the White Mountains.

Monsoon season in Southern Arizona officially starts on June 15th, although prior to 2008 the start was calculated by factors of dewpoint (ie: humidity indicating rain coming), and lasts into September. During that time weather forecasts are basically useless beyond one day. Storms can appear out of nowhere. Usually afternoon/evening, but they can happen at any time. On average Tucson gets 12" of rain a year, half of it during monsoon season. Like any weather though, this can vary greatly year-to-year.

Compare this to Florida where most parts receive at least a few feet of rain every year. Southern AZ still gets 300+ days of sunshine a year. Most people who live here welcome monsoon season, as it provides relief from the heat and monotony of sunshine.

Well, we are pretty well coming to see Tombstone. I have been there before and my grandson heard me talking about it and he wants to go see it too. We are both pretty well old west cranks. I have seen the crack and the dent and painted dessert and lots of other things there. I have spent a lot of time in the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC so I really want to just see Arizona and the bad lands etc. We will save the Grand Canyon for another trip. That is a good idea about taking provisions in case we have to wait out a flood. I know about the floods there but to tell the truth I had not thought about it this time. Thanks very much.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know my grandson and I did spend several days in Tombstone and are back home now in Texas. We had a great time. Only thing I was disappointed in there were so many establishments in Tombstone with signs that forbade carrying of firearms. Even BootHill did not allow my Kimber in. I hate to have to go back to the truck and hide my pistol before I can go in somewhere. Other than that it was a good experience.
