We've often talked about which kukri would be best for either self defense against a cougar or which one to use to take a cougar out.
Methinks I would prefer a 30-06 or .45-70 for one this size!
This is what the email from my cuz who lives in Phoenix had to say about it....
"Check it out: road killed 30 min north of Phoenix
Arizona Cougar....
This lion was hit between Prescott and Ashfork by a car. Game and Fish had to come and put him down. He charged at the Game and Fish guy in the process. Look at the size of his PAWS! Too bad he ended up this way.

I didn't get any hits on Snopes for "Arizona road kill cougar" so methinks it's probably real....
