arkansas spring hike

had the good fortune to visit with some relatives in north central arkansas last week. along with that was able to get a cupla good hikes in. spring is a lovely time to be there.
the first morning, after a hard rain overnite, the world woke up to sun n steam.

the fog burned off pretty quickly. the overnite rain had the creeks running good.

this stream comes outta an underground cave that used to be open. but my grandpa dynamited it closed after a calf got stuck and drowned here.

this is all you can see of the opening now, mostly underground but the water bubbles up outta here most of the time. only in the driest part of summer does it all go underground.

may apples were just beginning to come up. they're everywhere in the woods here.

Very beautiful and nice country side.That water comes up on the property is that the source for the drinking water

wells are easily dug here(well maybe not easy as its all rock-but the water isnt deep-my uncles well is only 30ft and it never runs dry no mater how hot n dry it gets in summer)
they are situated just 12 miles south as the crow flies from here

9 million gals of water an hr! good trout fishing and great for floating. spent many a day on this river while growing up. and ate my share of trout and catfish outta there.

Great pics, I really enjoyed them. I appreciate everyone that post up pics of their woods times, but some do seem to bring you along more then others and these definitely qualify!
