I asked Dwayne (Leatherman) of Armoralleather to make me a couple of his famous "B.A.D. A.S.S." sheaths for the two Mean Street Protos I got from the Extravagaaannnza sale. I expected a great slip sheath similar to the one I have for my Assault Shaker, but they had an unexpected surprise. Dwayne incorporated a trick detent that holds the knives in on the talon hole bump (well, the protos don't have the talon hole drilled, but I didn't know how else to describe it), they have a definite "snap" when inserted into the sheath. This makes for a "positive" hold onto the knife!
These sheaths are built as stout as the .300 thick Mean Streets themselves, they both will be able to take alot of abuse. Another feature of the B.A.D. A.S.S. design is the "X" on the back that allows you to mount the sheath either vertical or horizontal on your waist belt (As the knives show in the picture). The sheaths also have a snap loop on the end to hook onto your pant belt loop to keep the sheath from being pulled forward when mounted horizontally.
The sheaths have a simple look to them, which I like, but have many features that show alot of thought went into their design. I am bringing them to Blade if anyone would like to see them.
Thanks Dwayne for the great effort in having them ready.
Tim
