XM's get reviewed as well as pens and rightly so, the Armorers Tool is an amazing piece of design and tooling, Fit and Finish and the way it "works" when using it on one of you XM's.
It is one of those tools you don't use everyday BUT, what a pleasure when you need it and it's there to use.
I always take a minute to admire it everytime, puts a smile on your face.
I love good tools

They are a neat little tool.
I got one because I found myself in the right place at the right time.
I have many methods that are capable of worry-free assembly/disassembly of the XMs, but the tool is designed to be the "proper" method.
Like any way you go about it, the tool can be awkward at first till you figure out how it works best in your hand and for your wants /needs.
I decided to get it, swap my scales fairly often as the mood hits, so I use it enough.

Agreed!!
I recently received mine and adjusted both of my 24's, I got mine because I didn't want to possibly strip out the handle screws or chew up the pivot screw while adjusting etc...
It is comfortably residing on my set of keys so I can adjust my EDC XM-24 anytime and anywhere.
Here is a pic since I love seeing pics:)

Its really a high quality tool. The threads are machined very precise and are so smooth to twist on and off.

Keychain real estate is high value for me. Not a big fan of bulky keychain kit in my pockets, so my tool is in a small tool box consisting of related maintenance items.

Coins from your pocket can do all the minor field adjustments necessary on your EDCs.
Rare to need even a small tweak, but when you feel your XM needs it, the coins work well.

Often, the only time I find myself field adjusting is in the day or so that follows a part swap (scale or standoffs) where I disassembled the knife to swap parts.

Posted before, but fitting...

I confess to not carrying mine as a keychain, my keychains take a beating and honestly - while it would not effect the tool at all.
I don't want to beat the crap out of it. I keep it in my tool caddy located at my "knife station" in my workshop.
Funny. Carry my knives but keep my A-Tool tucked safely away:) When I need it, I know where it is.

I think most of wish they were just easier to get. But yes I have to agree, it's a must have!

C'mon guys. It's a pivot adjuster and a hex tool.... do I need one of these?

Most of us have all thought this at one point... but then it's just easier. It's defiantly not worth a scratch anywhere on your knife and at any point, you can pretty much sell it for close to what you paid for it.

As I gaze about my workshop, I spy numerous tools that I now own many of which were hard to find, required waits in order to receive, get used once in a Blue Moon and were very expensive often times at a time when I needed the tool more than I had $$ in my pocket to part with.
Some tools could have been substituted for but, the "real" tool was just that. My appreciation for the real tool was probably bolstered by using adequate substitutes enough times that when the time and opportunity came for the real one,,, all I said was "Ahhh that's why.... and smiled"
My Armorers Tool is in good company in my shop

Well keep in mind, my Honest heartfelt intent is not to "sell" anyone on the Armorers Tool but,, it is in my nature to share my observations with those of a kindred spirit. I talk guns with my gun buddies, Camaro's, Racing, Watches, Stereos, etc.
Here its Knives and STUFF Knife related. If I really really like something - I yack about it, hopefully after informing myself about it.
If I talk about how to do something it's because I did it and it worked. May not be a page out of the manual but it worked.
A knife, a tool, a sharpening method, blade centering or whatever - I do not B.S. if I don't know I will say so gladly or just not say anything.
I like this tool.

been using the PSD strider/hinderer tool. has been serving me well.... i have a bunch of striders and 2 hinderers so it made sense for me to get the PSD tool. saves me from buying another tool for the strider. wished the hinderer's A-tool could combine both pivot tools into 1 just like the PSD tool... if that were the case, i'd buy one in an instant!

You said it best, the truth is the truth. You own both knives - that is the tool for you. If you hadn't known about it and asked I would have told you about the exact tool you have.
The right tool is the right tool. I happen to think it is pretty cool, IF I owned Striders we would have been standing in the same line.

The Hinderer tool fits my Strider SMF well enough for adjustments to be made. You will still need a separate allen key but that is the easier part of adjusting.
