Flying out Sunday for a month to head to Ft McCoy WI

Not sure what sorta fun time I will have but decide to get out my beloved 3 that Jeff sent me while I was in Iraq in 2008 and clean it up and carry with me. I clipped the blade a few years ago so today I gave it a acid bath, buffing and edge touch. Oiled up and ready to rock. Also have my Luke Swenson custom for my pocket. Thanks for looking

Ft. McCoy is a decently nice facility. A lot of open spaces, looks flat, but a lot of it is not as flat as it looks. Not much in the way of old forest, so there's a lot of wooded areas with thick undergrowth.

One time I was there doing night land navigation, and I'm sitting on a path with my little red flashlight when I hear a sudden scream and the sound of a body thumping and rolling its way down a steep hill. Guy tripped and rolled about 100 feet into a muddy ditch. I would have laughed my butt off if I hadn't still had points to find myself- worried about the karma.

My wife is in the Reserves too, and just got back from doing land nav (among other things) at Ft. McCoy recently. She was also doing CLS (combat lifesaver) and various other stuff. Her opinion of McCoy isn't all that high, as when her unit goes there for weapons qualifications, they find most of the equipment to be in horrible condition, or at least quite a bit worse off than the M4s they end up cleaning at weekend drills more often than not. Friends of mine have heard the same.

Oh well, while I don't envy my wife in terms of the overall military experience, some of what she does is pretty interesting.
