Instructor Rene Navarro, Dipl. Ac. presented by H. Won Tai Chi Institute
ARNIS DE MANO: The Essence of the Art (Part 1)
Date: Sunday, July 16th, 2000
Time: 10 AM until 5 PM
There are many styles of Arnis de Mano (the art of Philippine stickfighting) being taught nowadays. Many of them are quite effective and practical. The workshop taught by Rene J. Navarro will cover the essence of the art as he studied it over a long period with many masters. What is unique about the material is that it is informed by the teacher's exposure to many styles, not only of Arnis but also Chinese martial arts weaponry. Instructor Navarro is actually coming out of his retirement from teaching Arnis to share his knowledge of different aspects of this popular discipline.
Included in the workshop: Abecederos (alphabet of the art) for single, double sticks and stick and knife; footwork; body weaving; distancing; feints, and other techniques that are the essentials of mastery.
Bring your own equipment -- two 31 to 33 inch sticks (rattan) and a 1 foot long stick/wooden knife (training daga). Students will be required to sign a waiver of liability. Limited enrollment.
Tuition: Pre Paid by July 10rd: $65 / At the door $ 75
