Hey guys. I carry an Arno Bernard Croc fixed blade when hunting but I’d like a more suitable sheath. My knife has maple Burl handles so kydex is out of the question I believe. What I don’t like about it is it’s… vertical. I prefer horizontal sheath’s. Any suggestions? I’d be ok with a vertical sheath if driving with it was comfortable. Plus, I carry my firearm where I prefer my sheath.

Hello ,

Well there are plenty of great leather crafters here on BF. If you browse through the thread Whatcha been up too,, you’ll see a lot of leather work. For horizontal carry sheaths there’s quite a few ways to make them. Belt slots, flap over , etc…..

Horsewright Horsewright builds some really really nice horizontal carry sheaths. You can see many pictures of his work there and many others.

One thing to consider is if your willing to ship your knife. I’m guessing most will want your knife to build a sheath, I would.

Here’s a couple I built for a custom knife. Modified flap over for right hand draw horizontal carry over left front pocket.

Good luck with your search👍

Very clean work and thanks for the shout out!

Echoing the sentiments above, a lot of great makers that could help, but it might be helpful to see your particular knife and the current sheath to get an idea of where you are at presently.

Sometimes an adapter can be fitted to the original sheath so you can carry it horizontally, but depends on what that sheath looks like, front/back/sides images all would help.
