I see a lot of his knives going really cheap on the internet. They are all very beautiful looking and the specs seem great. So why do these usually sell so cheap? I'm thinking I should just be buying them because they seem to be great deals, but I don't really need a new skinning knife right now. Does anyone have anything to say about this guy's work?

His small skinning/caping knives are small. look at the specs or even better hold one. They are neck knife size. But that's the size that I want. Small fixed blades that look great with the wow factor of warthog ivory. The sheaths that come with them are simple and clean.

Arno makes a great small fixed blade, top pocket knife. I have 3 all round 5" OAL, in warthog, mastadon ivory & mother of pearl. Fit & finish is great have both 12c27 & ATS34. I know some people don't like 12c27 I really like it as easy to hone & holds edge pretty well.
Great price for the quality. As I understand the currency conversion really favours the US dollar. Have a chat to AT barr as he is a dealer for Arno Bernard.
Send me email if you like I've got pics of all mine.

I'm really puzzled as to why his knives are so absurdly cheap. A lot of makers wouldn't make a sheath for what Arno charges for one of his little knives. From what I've seen, he does great work.

I'm very impressed as well. I've been to a couple of knife shows where I thought he offered the best value. Nice guy, too.

I have been looking for a piece of his work for a while (and just bid a bit of it up on Ebay :-)

Have never seen his work. However, hear enough good stuff from people I trust (you) that I would love to have one of his blades.

Seems he makes great stuff. I'll be sure to report back when I get one:-)

It's called "foreign exchange rates" . . . and the South African Rand is currently R6.5 to $1 . . . so in general terms you, as a US customer, are paying 1/6th of the Rand value of Arno's work . . . Lucky you!

1/6, huh? Now that sounds about right.
I think I'm just going to wait for one of his larger fixed blades to turn up on ebay or something.
I really like the look of his sheaths. Simple, and attractive.
Thanks for all the input! I'd really like some reviews from people who have used them.

Damn those are good prices, I bid on one of them. Checkout Knifeart and see what some of his work is going for.

Mate I use mine all the time, great users. I've used mine on different things, food, cardboard & even cutting leather for sheaths. I'm impressed with the knives & wouldn't hesitate to own another. If you want larger 1's Jim "treeman " Behring at treemanknives.com has some & AT has about 4 pages of Arno's knives. They are both good blokes I've purchased from both of them.
