Arrrrrgh!!!! The Meerkat is gone, say it ain't so?

I read in an ebay auction where the Meerkat is discontinued. One of the neatest little knives for a reasonable price I've ever seen. I can't wait to use it to open a deer.

I hope that information is incorrect, but otherwise, I'm stocking up for gifts, me, kids, me, trades, me, etc.

Say it ain't so.

The Meerkat is no longer listed in the catalog on the Spyderco website so I would guess that it has been discontinued.

They can be found pretty cheap right now on Ebay right now. Better stock up while you can.

Aye, it is discontinued. A while ago the Spyderco.com site was selling them off for a little more than $20 but they can still be found elsewhere for a bargain buy.

I just "discovered" the Meerkat about a week ago. Agree that it's suprisingly handy for it's size. When I get a new one, I'll use it for as many things as possible for the first while, and I was actually REALLY impressed with this one. If I can sneak it by Finance I'm going to get a second one. There may be some negotiating required - I just ordered a Centofante III, Dragonfly and Byrd Meadowlark AND I was at Mountain Equipment Co-op yesterday buying some material for lanyards, and a Leatherman Wave II called out to me

I found a seller on ebay and bought six more Meerkats for gifts, etc. You can pick and bid and get them cheaper, but buying them in quantity saved on shipping and they will arrive for about $21/per. Nothing like the threat of extinction to concentrate your resources.

I may buy some more yet.

One of Spydercos best little knives. So many great features, almost invisible in the pocket, wire clip, the fantastic open/close system, super ergonomics, sorry to see it go.
