I tried to find this on my own... I need help.

Probably in the late 80's- early 90's I would spend way too much time at the news stand flipping through blade related magazines.

I was recently trying to explain a knife to someone and thought I could easily find it with a google search... nope.

This knife I believe made the cover.

There was a bee theme, I think it was a dagger, some honeycomb inlay, I think it had a stand that was as much a work of art as the blade.
I remember there being a little sculpted bee maybe on the pommel or maybe it was just part of the stand.

I've spent hours/days scouring picture threads and pinterest and doing image searches.

any help = much appreciation.

Thanks Mete.
The one that I'm think of though was nothing "off the shelf" it was fully hand crafted. The honeycomb that I remember was inlaid and maybe 7 chambers but not laid out symmetrically.

When I see Dr Carter's work, it feels like I'm on the right track but I might have been seeing his work at the same time as this one appeared.

I remember the dagger, but not the well known maker who crafted it. It was introduced at one of the Knifemakers Guild shows. It was a rather large dagger on a stand with a number of bees, all cast in gold, attached the the knife and stand.
It was likely photographed by Jim Weyer at the time.

I'm beginning to think that images of this knife have never been digitized or they live in a non-metadata'd server somewhere with a number for a file name.

If nobody on this board has the image stashed somewhere, might have to hit flea markets and look for old issues of magazines.

This search has actually been going for years now lol

I wanted to help you. I just spent 30 minutes looking through all FIVE 'Points of Interest' photo books by Jim Weyer.

Nothing specific with a 'bee' thematic dagger and stand.

This said, now I almost wished I didn't look through the images. I feel VERY small. What a captivating and different photo style than mine.

The eighties and seventies were a remarkable time in knives. I was just reminded. I hope someone can help with at least a name.

Good!

Now you know how I felt after I spent Hours looking through your threads before I posted here!
Lol, seriously thanks Jim. I know the style of the photos that I saw was different than your style but I was hoping that it might have crossed in front of your lens at some point.

if it wasn't c-tek maybe it was superconductor??

took a look, the one I'm thinking of was definitely hand inlaid and definitely a one-off, haven't seen anything like it since.

I have an image of it in my head but if I sketched it out, it might lead people in the wrong direction.

don't know if this will help or not. Haven't laid eyes on the blade for almost 30 years but I think there were some hexagonal elements to the cross guard and/or pommel.
