coming up on Saturday, October 24, 2009, doors open at 10:00am.

My business partner Peter, and good friend Matt Diskin are coming down from the PNW to roll on this one, I'm so excited I can barely sleep.

Looking forward to seeing Marcel again, and chatting with Bob Betzner again.

Who else is coming to this one?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

STeven - I have already begun to select my wardrobe. Can't figure out whether to wear the dirty flannel shirt or the clean one.

Seriously, I had a problem sleeping last nite also. An Elton John song kept playin' tapes in my head whenever I woke up, LOL.

Looking forward to seeing you, meeting Marcel, David D., etc.

Anyone who knows me will probably not recognize me, since I'll likely not have on a Hawaiian shirt!

So, ok, like STeven says, who else is going?

Guys I'm real sorry but due to circumstances beyond my control, just today I had to cancel my trip to San Diego.:mad:

I'm deeply involved in a business project and because of critical deadlines I'm not able to go away. I postponed my decision as long as I could hoping I could arrange things, but I had to make my decision today.

I already emailed Phil to tell him how sorry I am that I will not be there coming weekend.

I wish you all a very entertaining weekend, I look forward to the report (STeven??) and if any of you could send me the catalogue that would give me some comfort.

Marcel

That's really unfortunate, Marcel. I was looking forward to meeting the "other dagger dude". Sometimes, though, business takes precedence. Actually, it almost always does, unfortunately.

Best,
Bob

I will be at Larry Bailey's Ohio Classic Knife Show and displaying my Fisk Collection for the first time.
You guys have a great time and please give me some reports. I will have my cell with me.

I am not going. But I was lucky enough to get a preview of some knives that will be there. Dwight Towell brought his knives by my studio the other day, and let me tell you he is bringing some nice stuff. Carved and engraved ivory, obsidian inlays, some real interesting knives. You will see what I mean when you see them. They are pretty awesome. Brian

Excellent show. STeven, the list of makers often changes. Do you have a current list? I understand Harvey Dean is a new inductee, right?

WOW - I have always been under the impression that it was absolutely verboten for any of the 25 makers to give any kind of preview of their knives before the actual catalogue was in the hands of the invited collectors, 10am - day of show. Interesting.

I'll see you there! Marcel, sorry to hear you you can't make it, was hoping to meet you in person, Bob looking forward to meeting you in person and Steven always good to see you. One of my favorite shows.

Can't show them to invited collectors...if you want to show them to a buddy, neighbor or fellow maker, shouldn't be a problem....the idea is one of surprise and pleasure, also not to give anyone attending preferential treatment, or so I imagine

holy crap, what a lineup!
Have a great time!

I got a preview of one of Julie Warenski's stunning pieces. Yes, I was asked to NOT post it, for privacy. My photo was to be used in the catalog.

Please let me know how the photo looked. I can't underscore enough how ornate the dagger...errr, knife looked. ;)

betzner, Dwight lives right down the road from me, I see most of the knives as they are made. Not sure the rules, I hope I did not break one, by verbalizing how nice a friends knives were. Brian

Hi Brian - Probably no biggie, just that I was under the impression that a maker wasn't to show any of the knives to anyone until the catalog was in the hands of the attendees. Doubt it matters at this point, being only three days away. And I could be wrong, too, it was just my impression, or understanding.

Bob

EDIT: Brian, check STeven's post above. He edited his post with what, I think, is the answer to our question here, one that makes perfect sense - and apparently only applies to invited collectors, so no harm, no foul, seems like.

You guys are lucky... I plan to cross the ocean for the next one in 2011. Hoping too that we'll have a review

That lineup is AMAZING! I wouldn't be able to sleep either if I were awaiting the day to attend.

Hope to see one of your reviews and LOTS of pictures STeven.

Peter
