I am working to finish up what I have started for the Blade show. This is my interpretation of Art Nouveau. The blade is clay hardened W-1. and the hamon has more activity than my photography skills can capture. I need to work on that. The handle is bloodwood. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you in Atlanta. I have table 17-R so stop by. I'm happy to take any feedback on this one. Thanks Todd

Length overall: 12"
Sharp: 6"
Width: 1 3/8"

Absolutely stunning. To be honest, it looks more art deco to me, with the streamlining and curves, but it really does not matter: the fit and finish look phenomenal.

Nice subtle knife , the distinction between art nouveau and deco are somewhat confused.
The fan pattern on the scales is the defining point here , Art Deco will have more coulorful abstract bold lines.
I have a few nouveau candle holders and one thing I'd have added to highlight the nouveau is bronzed pins or lining onto the scale material.
I'd like to see a deco version as that is my favourite specifically mother of pearl inlay :).

Thanks for the comments. I had never considered the idea of art deco though I can certainly see the resemblance. It is really more of an influenced piece than anything else. I wanted to put a little more bling in the fuller and of course that lead to the handle. I considered inlaying some wire but decided against it. Maybe next time. Agile- I am not really sure what the angle is, I just sort of do it by eye and feel. Thanks again Todd

I think you did a great job capturing "art nouveau" into this knife.
The organic fluid lines that move seamlessly/effortlessly from one part of the object (blade) to the other (handle) is an excellent interpretation of the art form.
A more "Art Deco" design on the other hand, would have less organic lines and more symmetrical and/or geometrical curves, lines, shapes, or overall pattern.
