Click Here to read an excellent article by Steven Dick. When I read this article, I fell in love with it, as the author seems to be talking about a khukuri without ever mentioning the word (no, I asked and he WASNT really thinking about a khukuri). FYI: The article IS reprinted with permission from the author.

Also, if you have any similarly appealing articles you'd recommend, please post links to them! We'd love to read'em.

While Dick makes general sense,I remember the time that we cut drums for a lightly defended perimeter at the second wire. The idea was to touch them off with max effect. We did not have big can openers,or the bung wrench.Knives had to do.

Ghost: I'd really love to see some pictures of your days back in Vietnam. Do you have any choice ones you can share with the forum?

I'm sure blackdog would be happy to post them on the gallery page.

That's why I would love to see better made, longer kardas with the khukuris. These can serve for the "finese" cutting. Then you have it all in one package.

My job was not to take pictures.I have a very good memory.I still have the old Minolta, bur I have not taken a photo in years.I gave the high buck 35 MM with the Nikon lenses to my Mom a few years ago.I gave her the Hassalblad as well. When I want to shoot,I do not draw a camera.

Wow - but ghost, do you have ANY pics you can share with us from Vietnam? You have, no doubt, seen things that we peacetime soldiers only hear stories about.

I destroyed my medals, pics, and everything else related to VN,except for weapons, when the enemy won April 15 1975.I divorced my wife while I was at it.I took a leave and killed commies in Rhodesia for a while. Now I wish I had the stuff.
Th US crap was re issued from my 201 file, but it is not the same.

Ghostsix,

Were you attached to the Selous Scouts during your time in Rhodesia?

No,I was with Jack Lott of the Police.I have those papers here, somewhere. It was really a Mil. org.
I did know an American horseman who was a Maj. with Greys` scouts.I heard that he was elected to something in FL.
I lost track of those boys.

No,my only enconter with Guhkahs was in Hong Kong.We never fought together,or against each other.
