Here is the knife Tom Ferry and I made to raffle off at the end of the show on Sunday we are hoping there will be 20 or 30 tickets in the box. All you need to do to get a ticket in the box is buy a knife from one of us at in booth 223 or 224. The Booth is new for us this year so we are doing all we can to make sure you come by to see us, in fact if you do not make it by the booth to enter for the knife we will be giving away on friday (as seen in my earlier post) we are going to give away this little EDC made by John Christiansen on Saturday to one of the first 100 folks to stop by. So, I am hoping to see you all there and I wish you luck on winning a knife.

Very nice! :) I know I am planning on having a ticket or two in the box for that one. Really cool idea and good looking knife.

Thanks, Jon

I'm definitely stopping by, hopefully I'll have a chance for the giveaway too, nice blades you're bringing Dave :)

Gorgeous knife and a terrific concept. You guys are going to have 20-30 knives between you? Quit holding out on the pics!

Roger

Nice looking Bowie and EDC Dave. Somebodys going to be very happy!
Wish I were going too. Have a good show man.

I really liked the concept demonstrated by the "Artisans of Cutlery" (Tom Ferry, David Lisch, Jon Christensen and Michael Vagnino) booth.
Kind of had the feel of going into a fine knife store or art gallery. A fine array of knives by each maker on high tables that made viewing all the more pleasurable. Some were well displayed on stands and others held on walls by concealed magnetic strips.

Their drawings/giveaways created a lot of excitement. Wouldn't be surprised to see this concept showing up at other shows.

Each maker even gave a 10% CKCA discount. One of our newer members told me he saved more than the cost of his 3 year membership in discounts he received.

That was a cool setup the guys had. One of them told me that the booth actually cost a bit more per maker than a table and I was trying to figure that out as a booth usually only costs $1100 or so............then I remembered that they also had to pay to decorate it up all nice. A bit of out of the box thinking and a job well done by all concerned.

The booth did work out very well but it is two booths as we could not all fit in one. And for the first year I thought it went well. The feedback from the collectors was good. We all sold knives and for me it was my best show every. Bill Flynn won the raffle knife. We will be in the same spot next year with more knives to give away and a whole new look. I would like to thank all of my forum mates who came by to say hi and show their support and most especially Tom Ferry for asking me to share in his vision.

Dave and Tom, you four guys had a really great idea, then plan and flawless execution. Congratulations one one of the best set ups in the entire show!

Oh!, and thanks for the business you generated for me too!!!!!

Paul

Dave it was a real pleasure to chat

Great booth and some of the best steel of the show

Your patterns are awesome

I agree with all of the above. I would've loved to win that raffle knife - it was a beautiful thing! Lord knows I tried. I entered the daily drawings and got an extra chance by purchasing a knife from one of the Artisans - in this case, Mike Vagnino. You gotta admire the talent and the execution these guys brought to the show. Their model is different than the one maker/one table scenario that has dominated the knife show world. What's really cool about it is that you might initially stop by the booth because of an interest in one maker's work yet you leave with an appreciation of four makers' work. It's a kind of built in multiplier effect that benefits both sides of the transaction.

Joe, it was good to get to know you as well, and the insight you shared with me will not be forgotten. Sometimes I would wonder if I was making the right knives. But you were not the only one who told me to keep doing what I am doing. So thank you for that.
Paul, it was good to meet you and I plan to send you as much work as I can.
Kevin the banquet and mini show was a blast a good way to meet new folks and we all felt that we are part of a very cool group. See you there next year.

I heard very good things about the setup David - sounds like a very impressive presentation.

Dan Pedersen told me I had to go take at look at the Artisans of Cutlery booth and was very impressed. Good idea, beautiful knives and always a crowd of great makers hovering near to visit with.

Thanks David for the fireplace hardware advice. It was great to meet you, we hope to take some of your blacksmithing classes sometime soon!

David, great show, great booth, and all four of you guys were extremely helpful and courteous, even at the end of a long Saturday. I wish I'd had another grand to buy that beautiful engraved AAA pearl folder from Tom Ferry.

Really looking forward to November and my amber stag feather damascus fighter I ordered from you. Keep up the good work!
