This past weekend in Stresa , Italy, the Arts in Metal show took place at the "Regina Palace Hotel".

15 makers were present from all over the World that made a special knife for this show.

You can visit the website of the show promoter and the website of the show for more info and to take a look at the knives.

Hi, Emmanuel.

How are you doing, my friend? Thanks so much for starting this thread about that show. I must say, that this appears to be THE most incredible assembly of knives at one show that I have ever seen. Next time I must beg someone for an invitation . . .

So many amazing pieces, and I love yours, but I confess this one just blows my mind:

Was anyone else who posts here at this show? I would live to hear a firsthand report.

For example, I have heard that the Michael Walker knife shown below went for 95,000 Euros, or about $120,000. Can anyone here confirm or refute that?

Anyway, this truly was the "best of the best" and illustrates everything that custom knives can be.

Thanks again for sharing that link here.

Was this one yours?
It was not until the 3rd look that I noticed that the inlay is carved black pearl (I think). Beautiful work.

This one also caught my eye.

About my knife it's the Colibrì III with a special mosaic inlay in black lip pearl that I'll not make again. The inlay is not carved pearl but all separate pieces of pearl put together.
Elizabeth and Wolfe had two beautiful knives at the show !!!
Check out this photos!!

Wow. Truly amazing work...speechless and would have loved to have seen than of these in person

thanks to a 3 1/2# folder with a 1/2" thick blade, I didn't miss this thread! ;)

Incredible! This would be quite the show to check out, thanks for the peek.

Those knives are amazing and I can only imagine what their total worth is......especially if the Walker knife brought those kind of $$$$'s!!!!

The detail is to the point of skirting reality, never saw anything quite like a few of those.

The knives posted in this thread are extremely well executed. Some of the best I've ever seen, in fact.

I also, particularly enjoyed these two above. The black lip inlay on the first is nothing short of amazing and the timed screw heads is a nice touch.

The second is one of the nicest two blade folders I can recall, also with the beautiful pearl inlays. Stunning.

The Fuegen piece is incredible and I can't imagine the time and skill that it takes to produce something like that. From a strictly aesthetic 'knife' standpoint, the blade leaves me wanting something else.........some other shape. But I'm guessing that the shape has to do with the theme of the rest of the knife and therefore, nothing else would have been 'right'.

Excellent work by all of these makers.

I agree with everything you said. Maybe Larry can explain what was behind the blade shape, because I am sure he had something in mind. But it was not aesthetically pleasing to me, either.

IMO The theme of this knife is the Roman Gladiator, and blade recalls the shape of the sword that was Gladiator sword ( the Gladio)

maybe he was thinking that a puggio or gladius blade shape would be appropriate given the subject matter?

oops, sorry I didn't see your first post there, Antonio! You beat me by a couple minutes.
Great minds think alike? :)
