as if there werent enough uses for my tarp already

i agree definitely not for cold weather or class fives but i think it would be an interesting way to get out to the middle of a lake if the fishing just isnt happening inland. or if you need to get far down stream quick.

That looks like something Bear Grylls would advocate...

 haha it kinda does
This boat is intended for flat water use and not for use in white water. One reason for this is if the boat was crushed against a rock, the frame could collapse or brake pinning you in the boat and preventing you from swimming to safety and possibly drowning you.

that page has been around for well over a decade.

i've never been curious to try it, but i'm in the desert SW so not a lot of water around to play in.

because of the potential consequences if the things isn't fairly watertight i'm more interested in their geodome shelters and other shelter structures where a little leak won't have the potential to be quite so catastrophic.

Not really as cool, but I made a somewhat successful water vehicle and floated it down a river. Launching and landing were tough on the tarp. Mine also wasn't quite big enough to float all 190 pounds of me-the edge of the craft was only barely above the water, and if I shifted I would ship water.
