Many Thanks - to Psyop for the BK17, to K9 Handler for the sparkly scales and to Guyon for the original installation on Moose's BK16 on Becker Mountain this fall.

And everyone: I'd like to do a little opinion poll here. My original intent was to strip this knife but if I do that the contrast between the blade and the handles will mostly be gone. On the other hand, if I strip the knife the black frame showing through the scales will be minimized. You can see the outline of the frame through the handles in the picture pretty easily. Actually in more normal light the frame is much less obvious through the scales.

So...do I strip it or leave it as is?

Either way, great Christmas gift.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I don't know. They look pretty good against a stripped blade.

strip it -- then plum brown it.
all the advantages of a "smooth" blade, better rust resistance than a forced patina.

Looks good put that pic in the holiday pic thread.

To many things to think about Col. Christmas is stressfull enough. Send the knife to me just to rid yourself of the worry.

It's what they all look like under the coating nowadays. Part of the reason the new coating sticks so well to the blade.

I really like the way they look now when they patina naturally too.

Strip it, polish the blade, stick a wire through the lanyard hole and hang it from the tree. Tell everyone it's an icicle. :D
