Lenny, the problem is that you are using BMP (bitmap) images. They can't be viewed by web browsers, although we can download the file (right click, save as).

Real nice knife. I am going to get one of their whittlers and congress patterns. Let us know how the steel is.

Lenny,
Nice knife & pics too!!

Can you compare this knife with CaseXX or Schatt & Morgan?
Also, what steel do they use?

FYI MOOREMAKERS KNIVES ARE MADE BY QUEEN, THE SAME CO. THAT MAKES S/M KNIVES. MOOREMAKERS STEEL IS USUALLY QUEENSTEEL-14, REAL CLOSE TO 440-C. IN SOME SPECIAL INSTANCES IT MIGHT HAVE ATS-34. SOME OF THE OLDER KNIVES MIGHT HAVE HIGH CARBON STEEL BLADES. DOWN HERE IN TEXAS THEY SELL REAL WELL AND ARE SOUGHT AFTER.

thanks for the info ragnoor.
I notice this is your first post.
Welcome aboard.
I didn't know the Mooremakers were made by
Queen. That explains the fit and finish.
I had a Queen that I sent back after I found out the blades weren't ATS 34 and plain old SS instead. However, the fit and finish was beautiful just like the Mooremaker.
The flatbed scans I took don't do justice to the polish of the blades and the color of the handle scales. Sorry.
I'm definitely going to buy another, maybe in stag this time.
Lenny

Mooremaker's site says they use carbon steel. If they are using stainless, I don't want one. Made by Queen is fine, that almost guarantees quality, but I want carbon steel. I may have to look into this further before I buy one.

I can attest to the fact that the steel in my Mooremaker is not SS.
It does discolor. I've been using my Dremel to keep it polished, but I think I'll just let it get dark gracefully.
ragnoor says they use 440 C which is a great steel, but I thought it was SS. Who knows?
My knife takes a wicked edge.
Lenny

The steel is most probably not stainless, because the warranty does not cover rusting and they advice you to cover the blade with thin film of oil when not used.

Cool, I'm sold. Once I get the cash I will be getting one of the congress, or maybe a whittler. I will get them both, it is just which one I get first. Thanks for the info guys.
