AS sheath

I just got my AS today. I knew it was the AS cause the box was smaller than the other Busse boxes... :p

I love the knife! I like how it feels in my hands. I dug up some pics of the cord wrapping, which I'll have to try.

One thing though. The sheath is tighter than clam! It takes a lot of pulling to get her out. I mean a lot. Like Camp Tramp a lot. If I needed it in a pinch, I wouldn't be able to quickly draw it out. Is that what you guys have experienced? Or is my sheath misshapen?

Mine is tight too. I suspect... that heating it and opening it a little will work, at the risk of making it too loose.
NOTE: I said suspect... i.e. I wouldn't try this with MINE...;)

To loosen it, you can use a hair dryer. It will take a while to heat up, so I wouldn't worry about loosening it too much. Just check the tightness every few seconds, and take it slow. Kydex is surprisingly easy to work with.

Good luck :D

Chiseen,
Leave it tight,to pull it out lift it up and then jerk it down.
As a neck knife it is more secure if it is pretty tight.:)

Ditto on leaving it. If you REALLY NEED it, it won't be too tight, believe me....:D

Good Evening Everyone-

Chiseen, that is wonderful news! Enjoy your new blade. Does this mean a whole bunch of Assault Shakers and Pepper Shakers have left the Wauseon shipping docks? Bound for eager recipients? Woo-hoo!

thatmguy, we must have been experiencing ESP. My thoughts EXACTLY. If you need it bad enough, you wouldn't even remember the draw.

Regards,

Chiseen, your is a clam, mine WAS a vice! Over time it loosened up beautifully...

I can easily draw it while wearing it in a horizontal position using only my belt loop as a 'stopper' for the mini teklok.

I am very interested in the cord wrapping myself however! Anybody know how this is done (a full wrap)?

Thanks for the help guys. Seems like it will loosen up a little bit with use. That's something I'll definitely do!

gundy, here's a cool thread about the cord wrap. IIRC, there were some more instructions on the bussecombat forum, but the site is down right now.

You guys are stealing all of my answers.;)

The only thing I would add is try a little lube on the Sheath until it loosens up. I've used a little silicone spray on tight kydex and it does wonders(tuf-glide also helps)
