As source for Bronze?

Does anybody have a hood source for bronze barstock? I'm looking for guard size, about 3/8 x 3/4 or so. I tried K & G and Texas Knifemaking, but they don't sell bronze.

Also, what bronze alloys would be suitable? I've heard of phosphor bronze and naval bronze.

Thanksin advance!

Hello
Check this forum date 13 Nov 2000. good info there. My best source is scrap yard. Much cheaper than anywhere else.

Try McMaster-Carr, they have all kinds of copper alloys as well as various steels. I bought 52100 from them in 1/2" and 3/4" rods. I do believe they carry silicon bronze which should work well for guards. For that matter they sell pure copper and tin if you want to make your own! -Guy T.
