there are a few more knives that I have not posted for viewing yet
The first is by Harvey Dean
This Sheffield Bowie has a framed stag handle and forged 1084 blade. HD was a maker which was not in the collection and I'm glad to be able to add this piece.
Another maker who was not represented but one which I have long admired as a maker and wanted something of his now has a place among the Chute knives which we own. This piece is a bit larger than most Chutes but still a wonderful knife and again with a framed stag handle and 154CM blade.
A Chute knife by Herman Schneider
The last knives are a couple of knives made by my long time friend and extraordinary knifemaker, Harald Moeller. These knives were originally shown at the NY Custom Knife Show in 1981 when HM invited then President of the CKCC, Bruce Edwards (deceased) and myself to participate in manning his table and enjoying the show. At the time they did not sell but did so at a CKCC show the following year. What happened to them and a couple of other "signature series" knives is not clearly known but at one point they were obtained from a pawnshop type of establishment and then sold to another friend of ours and of HM's. After having them for sometime, they were offered to me.
They are truly wonderful knives and show the kind of craftsman that Harald was 31 years ago and is still today. 440c and abalone. note that the guard is integral but the bolsters are Sterling Silver and the fit is almost impossible to distinguish. The upper grind on the single edged boot/dagger is as HM says "the most difficult grind I have ever done". Note also how the flow of the hollow goes from guard into the abalone. These are truly wonderful works of art and I'm very proud to have them now part of our collection.
Happy Holidays to all those in the forums and in CKCA and hopefully I'll see many of you next year at Blade 2013. Hope you enjoy the images.
