Hi all,
Soon the Holiday season will be upon us. A time when we gather with friends and family and exchange gifts, friendship, and celebrate life.
On this forum we spend much time drooling over, buying, and enjoying our hobby of sharp pointy things. I know in my case that I spend lots of money on this hobby. Its fun and the friendships that I have made on this board are some of the best friendships I as an adult have ever had. What a great blessing to have friends all over the world and the opportunity to gather and meet with so many of you.
But my challenge to you in this season is to not forget the poor. Now I am not talking about myself although currently I am between jobs. I still am rich in friendships, family, and in material possessions. Although during this season of my life where money is tight due to unemployment and I have had to separate needs from wants I still am far from poor.
The poor I am talking about are those that struggle to fill their tank of gas. those that cannot afford milk for their kids, or warm winter clothing or a safe place for them to sleep. Those without friends, family, and hope for a better future. These are the people who have fallen through the cracks of our society and lives. These are the poor.
I am a firm believer that we as affluent human beings are called to lift up those who have fallen, give hope to the hopeless, to defend the weak, care for the elderly, and help those who are helpless. This is why I urge you in this time of Xmas, Hanukkah, and Thanksgiving to remember these unfortunate kids and adults who need your help in this time of year more than ever.
the Holiday season for those who are barely surviving is a particularly hopeless time of year. I urge you to be the beacon of light in this season and help someone with your blessings. Invite a lonely person to Thanksgiving dinner, give a cash gift in Lea of a new pointy toy to the charity of your choice or your church benevolence fund. Make a positive choice this season to help someone who needs your help. The gift you give I believe has eternal ramifications in making this world a better place.
I have said this before but I will say it again. This whole world suffers from meanness, loneliness, and despair. As a group of people who share a common interest we during this season can make a difference to someone who needs to know that someone does care.
Thats all....
