My first post in the Buck forum, greetings!

A few of these have caught my eye recently (impulse, rush, etc) partly due to the smooth look of the aluminum handles.

The only thing is, I haven't been able to find any reviews from the Buck guys on BF!

How is the locking mechanism?

Anyone had noticeable bladeplay? (I have had a less than perfect experience with an A/O knife before but I am willing to give it a try again)

Does the safety hold up?

Are they comfortable in the pocket?

Please feel free to convince me to spend $50, payday is coming soon!

Pics would also be appreciated of well used ones

Thanks!

Welcome to the Buck forum... I can't tell you anything about them.... I just wanted to say hi... ITE

I've got two on the way to give as gifts. I'll be sure to play with them a little bit...welcome to the Buck forum!

Hey Person,
Welcome to the Buck Forum. I also have almost no Knowledge of the AO knives but I like the Tempest 154cm model 296 and have been looking to find one cheap. There is a thread on the second page at this moment giving some opinions of the Tempest with ATS-34. I believe it is the same opening mechanism as the rush and sirus. Sorry, I'd post the thread link if I knew how.

Welcome to the Forums and the Buck forum.

Our assists are liner locks with all the pluses and minuses those represent. You should not have any play in the blade up and down or side to side. We use two coil springs which spread the tension vs a bar spring which fatigues on the bend over time.

I have never really carried one but sons and neighbors love them so will have to let a user chime in here.

Again welcome to the forums

...I don't have any Buck Rush's but I do have several Buck Sirus 295's, 296's, 297's and 298's that I thoroughly love. These are similar to the Rush but a bit larger...One of the staunch members of the forum ( take a bow Gooser...:p ) turned me on to the ASAP system when he recommended a 298GY to me. These knives open with very strong authority and are terrific user knives IMHO...The 296's and 298's are either ATS-34 or 154CM steel and hold a great edge although the standard 420HC steel is also a really nice steel and is able to stand on it's own merits as well. My 296's and 298's are all ATS-34...Buy one or buy a couple...you'll love 'em...

I have a Rush and a Sirus and use the Sirus as my EDC. The liner lock is very strong and centered on both. Neither knife has any blade play. The safety is solid and works very well. The Sirus is bigger than the Rush but is very comfortable as a front pocket carry. My Sirus was well used when I bought it on the bay and as I said in another thread I have taken it apart and know how it works. I removed all the sand and it works great. For a big knife get the Sirus, for a small knife get the Rush.

Thanks for all the replies and greetings!

You convinced me (And might I add that Mr. Buck giving personal reassurance on the product is more than I could have asked for!)

I will hopefully pick one up soon and let you guys know how it turns out!

I have Rush's, Tempests, Sirus' and I love them. Extremely well built knives. I find the Rush a bit small but then I has a preference for large knives. I have a EDC Tempest in 154cm that clips so nicely in a Filson wool vest and it goes with me all winter. I personally think the Tempest/Sirus Drop Point design is one of the very best available. So jump on it...I recomend it highly. Here it is, the one on the bottom.
