Assume the worst? Not sure exactly what that means. It's not like AUS-8 is crap steel. Anyway, I had a Scimitar in AUS-8 years ago. One of the sharpest knives out of the box I've ever owned. The downside is that the linerlock wore rather quickly and the knife developed a bit of up/down play. Cold Steel has since improved the overall design with the Talwar.
