Hey all!

The Combat Grade ASH Painted Blade is supposed to be .320 thick.
The ASH LE Satin Finish is supposed to be .225 thick.

Do these originate from the same blank?

If a Double Cut finish is really a Bead Blasted Satin finish, does that mean the .320 CG blanks are ground to .225 to get the imperfections out for the final Satin Finish of the LE at .225?

IF so, then are we to assume that the ASH Combat Grade Double Cut ends up the same thickness as the ASH LE at .225 and not the full .320?

Too much INFI to remove just to get to the LE thickness. I'm sure Jerry has different thickness' of stock laying around.

No disrespect - but isn't this kind of a "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin" question.:)

My question is .......... WHEN??:D:thumbup:

I would say that the blanks for the CG and LE versions are from different stock. Usually, uncoated blades tend to be about .02" thinner than their coated counterparts, with the Scrofas currently offered at the Company store being a textbook example of this.

Usually the LE's are thicker than CG versions. The ASH1 is atypical in this respect.

If Jerry says that the CGs are supposed to mic out at around .320" you can expect it to be very close to that number. Same with the LEs. I think there was a thread recently that referred to this. I don't think there is any way that they come from the same blank. Jerry stocks a wide variety of blank thicknesses for different blades. It wouldn't make much sense to grind all that INFI down to go from .320" to .225".

I sort of assumed the blanks were project specific but thought I'd ask around just for an opinion.
Not a big deal but I would have been a little surprised if the width I received was significantly narrower than expected.
Must be different blanks because I think my anniversary SH-1 is even thinner than the ASH offerings now.
