ASH-1 Mag Versus Standard Handle Question

I'm curious about the standard versus mag handles on the CG ASH-1s...

Both my CGs I have on order are with mags... anybody have both types of handles yet? :confused:

If so, which do you like better? :confused:
And... which do you prefer on other .320" thick Busse knives?

I'm thinking that standards on this size blade would be better...
but then again, I like the mags on the FBM LEs.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I got one of each in yesterday, but already sold and shipped the one with mags...

Here's my take - just from handling - no hard use... They feel surprisingly alike! These aren't like the Hell Razors, where the mags were a huge difference. The mags didn't feel too big, and the standards didn't feel too small. I think I like the mags just a hair more, but i liked the color on the standard one, so that's the one I kept. Also, the raptor scales are my favorite looking Busse scales, and you mostly lose that look with the sculpted mags. The standards just look better (IMO), AND cost $35 less.

With all that said, if I were going to order another today, I'd probably order the standards.

Just FYI, I wear either Large or XL gloves (XL is long enough, but loose, Large is more fitted, but a little short.) Different hands may feel different on these handles.
 
I wear L gloves and the Mags feel perfect in my hands, but I have not tried the standard grips either.

Anybody have standards they could measure??? :confused:
 
I wouldn't know as all ASH-1's I have ordered, are with magnum handles. The reasons that made me do it can be found in this thread. I hope this helps.
 
Standard:

Between Fasteners: 0.72 inches
At Center Fastener: 0.82 inches

Magnum:

Between Fasteners: 0.72 inches
At Center Fastener: 1.06 inches
 
I have standard grip (black micarta). It is awesome!

After ordering my ASH1's, I had buyers remorse for the first time with any Busse. I thought I don't need it, that the design may not suit me, etc. etc. Boy was I wrong. I just opened up my first CG standard black on black canvas micarta... and boy do I love her. She is a tank, and the grip contours are PERFECT! I have such a secure and comfortable grip on her, its stunning.
