Can you guys help me with a decision I'm trying to make. What would be the better knife a ASH-1LE or CG-ASH. I've handled an ash-le it felt neutral in the hand real light,
almost like nothing. How does the CG-ash feel in the hand? Also what are the pros and cons of these two different ash's. Thanks,

For my taste in knives (I like them thin) the ASH1LE wins over the CGASH1. The ASH1LE is balanced and light, the CGASH1 feels massive in comparison. If I wanted to pry open a tank I would not hesitate to pick the CGASH1, for everything else, the ASH1LE (or the Skinny ASH1) wins.

I agree with VoxHog.

I love the indestructibility of the CG, the massive spine. And if it's reground right, it's still a very good cutter.

Thanks Vox, just trying to figure out which one would be the perfect one. Being I have heavier Busse models maybe the le would be a wiser choice being at .220,
Kind of in between the others.

The LE is plenty thick, and a real beauty with a great feel:thumbup:

IMO the CG is to thick for this blade length. But you'll get many responces... whats thin to many Hogs would be considered fat by many others in the knife world. You'll just have to decide which would be the best for your needs.
The only thing the CG could do better would be chop(and pry, but dought you would ever do that), but thats not a knife made for chopping, so it still wouldn't be great at it. The LE is tough as nails, and would shine in many areas...mainly at the thing a knife was made to do, Cutting.

Thats good sound advice Ken. The knife feels good in hand but the handles feel a bit small/slender. I guess that can be fixed though. Thanks,

Doug if you want sound advice on knife performance, IMO, you can always count on good advice from Ken.

Ya'll be good:)

Go for ASHLEy... she's the best of breed IMHO.

If you already have fatties... I say go for skinny.

She's one of my top 3 of all Busse blades that I've owned.
And trust me... I have had, and still have my fair share to compare to. ;)

Plus... she's a real looker too! :D

CG is EXTREMELY thick, it felt thicker than my ffbm almost. I can't even imagine a more indestructible knife, it's so thick it's almost a joke.

I don't have any LE experience, so I can't help there, but the CG could be improved by being a smidge thinner, so I think the LE might be a good compromise to the skinny. It was a great cutter once the edge was thinned though.

If you have the difference in cash to get the le, I usually say LE. The satin finish not only looks great, it does give a slight performance edge in slicing and chopping. Not much but some. Then you don't have to strip it later.

After a while of owning the CG, you really don't even think about how fat it is anymore. But the first time you pick up a skinny, or LE, or such, you will for sure notice the difference. I held one in satin/black g10- or black paper (can't remember which). It was like it was not even in my hand at all. Just floating there.

As a comparison, the middle of the road thickness on Gamewardens is .22. I have one and it feels pretty normal. Now that same thickness on a much taller longer blade with a much bigger handle feels downright svelt. But that is almost 1/4 inch thick, which is a great blade thickness. Being infi, even at a thinner stock, you don't really have any worries about toughness.

I used to have an ASH-LE, and I found the tip to be a little thin for my taste. To me it seemed like if I stuck the tip into a stump and then pried it out the tip would come out bent. I believe the skinny ASH has a beefier tip, and would be my choice between the two.

That said, the CG really is a cool knife. Indestructible.
