My first Busse crush was the ash 1 fatty (but couldn't afford it then).. the thick Moab is the toughest, manliest blade on planet earth.. upon seeing Jerrys sneak peek at the Ash 2, my knees went weak, the clouds parted, and I wept with joy... But forum rumors now are that the 9ish" blade(also a rumor) is not even a 1/4" thick...??? :( Has ANYONE caught wind of the actual specs of this blade? or know if it will be available in thicker gauges? to me, a 9" Busse in sub 1/4" is like having a 1971 challenger with a 6 cylinder.... who am I kidding...Ill be getting it regardless.

I have seen it in person. I didn't get the chance to hold it, but I don't think you have to worry about it being a puny blade. I do own one of those thick Moabs you mention (MOABM) and a Fat ASH-1, so I like em fat too!

all I know is if that blade comes in 1/4" or more, Jerry better include a cautionary sticker similar to Viagra "If you experience an ******** lasting more than 4 hours contact your doctor"

Now THAT'S funny!!!^^^

I thought Jerry said it would be .220 thick with a 9" blade, which to me will be GREAT!!!;):thumbup:

Nice one Robdude^^^^

And don't worry yourself about the ASH2. 28 months from now you'll be ordering your DC ASH2 with your favorite handle option, a mere 15 weeks after that you will have your ASH2 in hand, and at that point in time (2 years, 7 months and 3 weeks from now) you will think to yourself "man, all that worrying for nothing; THIS THING IS PERFECT!!!!".

I personally think .220 with a 9 inch blade, and a similar handle to the Ash-1 would be nummy!!!! or at least perfect

I'm a noob, but I'm thinking DC is double cut? Could be wrong, have so much to learn.

Anyways, I'm hoping they make something 0.20 thick with a 16 inch blade! That'd be scary.

Thick blades are nice , but nothing wrong with a chopper that's 1/4 " thick or even 3/16 especially a Busse , they kick ass and your backed by the warranty

If I could have only one ASH1 it would be .220 (I just bought two of these to satisfy my "one and only blade quest" ;) :D ), in the "ASH2" length I would want it a bit chubbier than that. More like .25-29, but that is my taste ... :) :) I also LOVE my fat ASH1s and have specific instructions about just such a blade being with me in the box when I am put in the ground. That is presuming I go under in a normal fashion however, most gambled money involves me being rolled in a tarp and put in a shallow hole in a national park in the middle of the night... ;) ;)

You think they'll take the time to wrap you?

Only because they will do so to prevent leaving forensic evidence in the boot of the car they transport the body in... ;)

Hey just curious.. where do you guys feel a thinner 9" blade shines?? in my experience, typically a larger blade would be a chopper wherein thicker and heavier is a big plus..

A knife should be able to do more than just chop or split wood, it should be able to cut and slice without too much effort. Many folks here have referred to Busse knives as "sharpened pry bars" due to their thickness. I personally think that .220 is a great thickness!;):thumbup:
