Greetings folks,

Boy, have I learned a ton of information regarding Bussekins since I "discovered" this cult in September. I now own two RMD's, with a Skinny ASH (purchased through The Exchange), to be delivered any day now - with more to follow. One question I have regards the meaning of the term "Anniversary" in some Busse blade titles.

Certainly appreciate all of the worthy information on this, and other sites, and thanks in advance for your replies to my question.

Cheers...Tuica.

They are remakes with specifications changed of old original blades from long ago. THe changes are slight but also significant so as not to be identical to previous releases.

For example, in the photo below the top knife is the original Steel Heart (also called Steel Heart 1) produced in the early 1990's. You can see the similarities and differences between it and your Skinny Anniversary Steel Heart 1 (ASH1). The middle knife in the photo is the original Battle Mistress produced in the late 1990's, also known as the Straight Handle Battle Mistress to distinguish it from subsequent models with different handles. If you compare this original Battle Mistress with the current release of the Anniversary Straight Handle Battle Mistress (ASHBM), again you will see the differences and similarities.

The whole anniversary thing is kind of confusing to me too. It is my understanding there are 2 separate anniversaries celebrated. The first is Jerry as a knife maker with a 30th anniversary (Flying Mojo on the Custom shop site marked as a 30th anniversary release), and the Busse Combat knife company 20th anniversary (SHBM on the Busse marked as a 20th anniversary release). The Anniversary Mean Street celebrated one of those as well I think, but not certain which.

It is my understanding that if it is marked 20th anniversary and currently on sale it celebrates the Busse Combat company anniversary, and if it is marked 30th anniversary and on sale it celebrates Jerry as a knife maker.

I am sure if I am incorrect on any point someone will be along to correct me.

Confused yet?

It will all become more clear with time. A drink once in awhile will help clear it up too.

The Anniversary series of Busse knives are meant for use in celebratory occasions like birthdays and marriage. And weekdays and weekends. Today is the first Tuesday of the week since the last Tuesday. Therefore, I must purchase a knife to celebrate the occasion.

Possibly the best reasoning for buying a Busse EVER. :p

Divorce...don't forget about divorce! Every time I buy a new Busse it is a little celebration of my divorce.

How about buying a Busse to celebrate the arrival of a recently purchased Busse?!?! Just received my first - the Skinny ASH recently sold on BF Exchange. "Character worn", with beautiful G10 Tan & Black scales. Holding it makes other knives seem like toys - what a tank.

Now I see the desire that drives the seeker's of Steel Hearts and other Bussekins. Have three B'Kins now, and searching for that next aquisition. This just began around the middle of August. Prior to that, I didn't know a Busse from a bus.

Cheers...Tuica
