ASH confusion...

Hello,

I was hoping some of you folks might help clear up some confusion for me about the various versions of the ASH. Let me preface by saying that I do not presently own any Busse knives and have never even seen one in person. I do, however own an SR Mini Mojo and a SYK 511.

What is the difference between an ASH-1 and a Fusion ASH? Other than the "fat" and "skinny" versions, are there other variations? The ASH-1 was the first Busse Knife I ever saw a picture of (a few years ago) and I've been somewhat enamored with it ever since. However, if I decide to invest in one, I want to make sure I get exactly the type that I'll enjoy the most.

Any and all info on the subject would be appreciated.

Thanks Much!

Combat Grade ASH-1, .32" thick at the spine & coated, or doublecut (twice bead blasted) as an upgrade option.

HOG ASH, a CG ASH-1 (.32" thick) offered as a special deal to inducted HOGs, Muddy blade with Magnum Tigerhide linen micarta and the HOG's inducted HOG name on the blade.

Limited Edition ASH-1 (AKA ASH-1 LE or LEASH-1) .22" at the spine, satin finished with 'Tigerhide' linen micarta only, and serial numbered.

Skinny ASH-1, .187" at the spine, coated with Magnum canvas micarta handles

ASH-1 Special Edition 2007, .22" at the spine, doublecut, with black/olive G-10 handles and part of a multiple model set offered at BLADE 2007 and the following Ganza. Marked on the pile side of the blade as "Special Edition 2007".

No Fusion ASH, but there is what is known as the ASH Whacker, which is an ASH style blade 'fused' with a BushWhacker Mistress handle. Offered as limited prototypes in 3 different blade lengths at BLADE 2011.

In addition, there are many different ASH variants in different blade thicknesses that were sold through the Busse Company Store and knife shows/Traveling Trough shows and Ganzas.

There was a Fusion Steel Heart (FSH, many variations) and an Anniversary Steel Heart (ASH-1, many variations). I have not heard of a Fusion Ash.

The ASH-1 is second from the top, the FSH is second from the bottom.

hogcult.com and bussecollector.com are good places for info on some of the older models.

My understanding is that Fusion refers to the handle style. In this picture you will see a version of the Fusion Battle Mistress (FBM, also many variations) just below the FSH.

BTW - until this day I am still confused by all the FBM terminology. I know the differences by looking at them, the saber grind one, the full-flat ground one and the LE version but I see variations of FBM (Fusion Battle Mistress), FFBM (Flat Fusion Battle Mistress), FFFBM (Fat Flat Fusion Battle Mistress) but I am not sure which ones are the official correct terms and am confused by which term actually applies to which knife.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the info. I believe that the Fusion steel heart was what I was referring to as the fusion ash. I guess I read it somewhere and mixed it up in my head. Is there any existing reference guide to the specs for all of these models? The FSH looks significantly larger than the ASH-1 in l2lku2's post but I'm not aware of the exact specs of either model.

Once again, thanks for your help.
