ASH differences

I'm sorry for the OBSESSION with the ASH series, but I have another question about them. Can somebody explain the difference between the models? I am fairly certain that there are 3 different thicknesses (.32, .22. and .196-ish), but I don't know if there are different names for them. Are there different models?

Thanks all...

Nick

-PS- I bought a .22 ASH yesterday, and I should get it later this week. I am super excited!! My first Busse!!

I think you made a good choice with the .22. The ASH1LE was made with the same blank. The .32" was the combat grade which mostly came coated or double cut with only a few satins around. The thinner of the three was the Skinny ASH which had a convex grind where the other two had a flat grind.

Very good choice. Congrats!! :)

Thanks for the info! Mine has a satin finish...does that make it a "LE"? I was hoping to use it, not make it a safe queen.

It's only an LE if it has a # on it. Other wise it is an SE or special edition that more than likely came from a show. I have had all three and that one was my favorite.

Even if it is a LE, there is no reason to not make it a user (unless it is number 1, or 27 or other important number).

I use my LE's, and there is no real premium for being an LE, aside from the extra expense for the finish. (unless there are a very limited number like some models.....).

they are all top on my list but i always reach for a skinny ash when possible

OOOOOOOHHHH. I am sending my skinny Ash in to have this finish applied. I'm having different scales made for it though.

I like plan old black or tan canvas best on a larger user:thumbup: :D for smaller knives wood works well for me too.
