Hi there, first post as I just received my first Busse knife. Wanted one since I first stumbled across the Busse website last year and finally found the knife I wanted, here in the UK... A mint ASH LE!

I love it but I was expecting it to be a bit sharper, especially from the belly to the tip it is quite dull and it hasn't been used or sharpened in any way... YET!

What I want to know is what type of edge does it have, and what sharpening tips or edge modification would you all recommend?

Thanks JJB

just hit it against a rock a few times. It will sharpen right up.:)

I was just going through how to sharpen an ash also(deciding what way to go.

I ended up keeping with flat stones.

It is now very very very sharp with minimal work.

The way I look at it is it is much easier to go from a v-grind to a convex grind then making it convex and wanting it back to a flat grind.

Not sure you would want to go back once it is convexed but....

I would just get it sharp to start.

Other will have much more info for you and most likely suggest sandpaper and something to cushion underneath.

good luck.
