i am not the best handle man, but those are ash scales with aluminum hollow pins with q-tips ends inside them.

Web,

Very good!

Have you considered staining/sealing those handles? A light colored stain/sealer would really being out that nice grain in the wood.

Lookin good.

Tung oil would work great, and seal the wood from swelling and shrinkage from season to season and with humidity changes.

good idea.

i probably should seal them. i know ash is very rot resistant, i had some on another knife that i used everyday and they were great even when wet.
if i do seal them i may use superglue(about 4 coats)
thanks for all the nice comments and sorry about the crudy pics.

Why oh why am I seeing all of these beautiful mods on Beckers after I sold my BK10, BK 9 and BK7?

Great job BTW!

on some of my knives that have hollow pins i put the q-tips ends(with plastic stems) in there for extra fire starters. just unravel them and use your ferro rod and striker. they will burn for about ten seconds or so. just a little extra insurance.

thanks for the nice comments. the knife is sitting on a beaver hide that i trapped, skinned, and tanned. i do not like nylon sheaths, so made this one to ride opposite my pistol holster. one of these days i am going to make some ash grips for my ruger sbh .44 mag. i also sanded off most of the black coating and blued the blade to give it a kind of a patina look.
glad you all enjoy it.

nice work man!

I like to see that there are many knife nuts who can appreciate a good knife for lil money and making it even better by improving or making other handles.
