PeteyTwoPointOne posted a thread earlier about the Light Brigade treatment. I'm all about it. Thoughts on the Fat ASH1 with the same? Sounds like this would be about pure awesomeness!!

I'd like to see the LB treatment on other models, as well...for one, the HG55...until then, I'm gonna drill out the handle of my HG55 to scoot the balance point a bit more foreward and lighten the knife overall when I work up the nerve and find extra time...

But yeah, I think the LB treatment is pure genius!

This is the only big negative on the hg55. It's way handle heavy. HG55LB would be perfect.

Drilling the tang caution: Make sure you drill really, really slow with lots of oil (think submersed in oil/water) as drilling heat treated INFI will be hard on your bit & generate tremendous amounts of heat in that tang. ;) Last I knew, the custom shop won't even drill new holes on heat treated blanks if that says anything about it.

As for the ASH-1, we've had a deluge of them over the past couple of years between trash/BG/cerakote/BIG so rehashing more of the same isn't nearly as appealing as entirely new designs to me. Not against the idea at all, just not something I would want heavily prioritized over the rest.

Thanks Tim, I've bored out pre-existing tang holes for new hardware on two O1 Spyerco's and it was a SLOW process even with a diamond bit...probably not a lot of danger in me getting around to making time for it anyways...;):o

But after your post I'll probably rule it out completely now...makes sense if Busse won't tackle it themselves

For sure now I'm gonna consult my friend at his tool & die and not take it on solo with my Harbor Fright DP ....good lookin out for a little brother piglet...Thanks Again! :)
