how would you guy rate the ASH1 to the BATAC for outdoor life like kyaking and camping???? i like the BATAC a lot but the full flat grind on the ash and the extra inch of blade i think would make it better for shelter buliding ECT.

A coated ASH1 would be good. Altho I'd like to feel a thick CG before I swore that it'd work.

A much cheaper alternative to a used SFNO which would run you almost double the cost. EEEK! I'm convinced there were only 5 SFNO's made and the same ones keep trading over and over again. I don't like the SF handle on the HR b/c it's too light of a blade. But on a NO, it's really really nice.

Don't forget how thick they are. That is a downer for me on the CG. If you like em thick, that should be a good one for sure.

thick or thin isn't as much the issue as size to ablity. and saber grind vs flat grind flat grind is my fav. i like to do shelter buliding and baton. when boating can't bring much supplies so the knife does a lot of work. as for a drownder i use to live on the west coast and surfed for many years to a life saveing class, im a pretty good swimmer as long as a snag doesn't get me;)
