Since I had my ASH1 out I thought I'd try some batonning with it. I used a 21oz. Stanley dead blow hammer.

I did this several times and it performed the same each time. The edge is still shaving sharp and I easily feathered somescrap 2x4s with it.

I'll tell you what. It's a lot harder batonning acrossed the grain than with it. I have done this about 7 times in the last hour. I really had to hammer on the ASH1 pretty hard on some of the pieces of 2x4. And still the edge is scary sharp and no damage at all.

as usual i'm a lil confused, is your ash a cg fatty, special edition or an le? what is the thickness?

and thanks for the flicks, very nice

Thanks guys. After a LOT of chopping and batonning with the ASH1 I would highly recommend some mechanics gloves. They are very thin but durable. ;)

Sorry I did not post that. It is a CG ASH1 with regular handles. I reprofiled on the edge pro but not far off from the factory edge. The CG have a thickness of .32" I believe. :)

I was a little worried about the edge a few times as I really had to hammer through some tough pieces. But even after all the chopping and batonning the edge was roll/ding free and still shaving sharp. INFI holds an amazingly strong edge.

Holy Oink, Tyrkon!! Guess you just found another thing the ASH can do well!! Nice work, brother Hog!

Good stuff.

My CGASH is on it's way so I should have in about a week.

I'm starting to think it might not need as much thinning as I was planning

Man those .32 blades just eat everything that they're given. My Steel Heart goes thru 2 inch tree branches with only one or two swings. Impressive, considering the size of the knife. Bloody well designed.
