Okay, so maybe I got home from a long night of work and made a tall white russian and opened my new Knife from Voxhog and started taking crappy pictures of it.....

Anyhow, here are just a few pics of the "new to me" ASH1-LE

THANKS VOXHOG for a perfect knife and interaction!

This blade BTW was freaky to photograph....you will see what I mean.

what Crafft said.
I love the ASHLE, too, and your macros are great!
It makes me to get out my blade from the drawer...

Congrats!

Now... isn't that the sweetest feeling handle?
Great balance... such a great blade!

The ASH-1s are one of my all time favorite Busse designs.

A little background for the newer piglets...
2007 marks my 25th year as a full-time knifemaker and the 15th year anniversary of Busse Combat. Eventhough I started making custom knives in the late '70s I didn't start counting until I went full-time in 1982.

In 2002, for the 10th and 20th anniversary I did a remake of my Argonne Assault model from the 80's. Now I need to know what I should offer for the 15th and 25th anniversary. This knife will only be offered once and then permanently retired!

Should I bring back an old classic? Should I design an entirely new model? Should I just drink until I pass out? Hmmmm. . . . I could use a little help here fellas!!!

I welcome all suggestions!

It will have similar overall specs as the first one from the early 1990's but will be much cooler!!!!! eek: cool: thumbup: : D

The release date has yet to be set, but it will be sometime in 2007!!!! thumbup:

Thanks for all of your input!

I sure love my Ash1. I have not really had a lot of use for "real world" with it so far. I used it to butcher an elk (until one of other guys took it from me, and I was demoted to using my SS and GW).

I threw it a bit, just a little, because my thumb was not working properly at the time.

I took it camping in the snow the other month. The only use it got was making some sticks for roasting hot dogs and Mallows etc. I did not really need to use it for fire prep, because we made the scouts do that, and I would not give it to them yet (too inexperienced and I would hate to tell one of their moms why little Timmy is now Stumpy, or Patches).

It is definitely a knife that feels very secure in the hand, and I is a more useful size and shape than I was thinking it would be

Crafft: I agree 100%. Sometimes I come to this forum just to check out the photos.

ikkyo: Thanks! I am glad that it was motivational for you:thumbup:

Matteo Escobar: I think so also. Voxhog was not kidding when he said it is a beautiful knife.

Lil' Foo: Thanks for all of the info! You are very organized with this stuff. I am not sure yet if I like the handle of this better than the CG. I think the CG fills my hand better, but the LE felt much more agile, much much more...but, the ASH1 handles are by far my favorite of any knife that I own.

Bigfattyt: Thats funny, I am not sure what I will put my knife through yet.

Talk to you all later and thanks again,

Kevin

Lil' Foo,

I have been reading through those threads as time permits. I just finished up the one about the prototype. In that thread I believe Jerry stated, "The Limited Edition will be the official anniversary model and will be the only one to bear the 15th anniversary logo."

Did this end up happening? I notice no difference in Logos (what am I missing?)

Thanks!

I just bought an ASH 1 LE off of WLJ4163 who was also very reliable, and it is awesome. I received the it as well as the NMSFNO in the mail and I can tell the Ash is a knife I can carry when moving about outdoors. The NMSFNO is a beast but not as practical for moving about with.

Yeah, the knife is very nice. I started with a skinny ash, then a CG and now the LE. Of the three the LE is bar far my favorite all around and I really love the looks of the finish that is shown in a few of my pics. To me it really looks awesome.

I pick up the skinny and think, "great knife, this is a very practical knife". Then the CG, "I just want to throw this thing into trees and stab and chop and slash up stuff and afterwards it looks the same:confused: and it feels so freaking solid. Finally the LE, "okay, this thing just fell into my hand and I tossed it back and forth from hand to hand without any thought, HUH:confused::confused::D:D. I better stick this in the knife drawers before I get in trouble, just keep with the CG tank."

So, anyhow it sure is great to have such a wonderful community like this to be able to find such wonderful knives from such trustworthy people. I don't even buy on ebay, but here I don't think twice.:)

Nope... didn't happen. Unless there are some secret ASH-1s with different logos running around. :foot:
J/K :p

As far as I know, all the ASH-1s are the annivesary knife....
GCs, LEs, Skinnies, ganza versions. Ganzas and customs have the custome shop logo (with a few sterile exceptions IIRC),
Skinny, CG, & LEs all have the production logo... and LEs sport the serial number.

I believe there was a lot of chatter about the 10th anniv logo being too big and splashy, so maybe Bossman decided to skip it.

I will say that the LE is my favorite of the bunch... hands down!

Thanks for the info:thumbup:

The LE is my favorite, though the CG was a valentine's day gift from the ole' lady, so in a way that is a favorite also (I don't feel as bad using it since it is not my HARD EARNED CASH:D:D.

Thanks again!

That's a damn nice knife. My next Busse was going to be a BA. I'll have to re-think this. :D

I would highly recommend it. It is really a lot nicer than I expected, and much much nicer than the pics make it out to be.
