Guys,

The Skinny is turning out to be a top-notch knife - my #1 right now.

Is there anyone out there who could give me a comparison shot of the regular Skinny and the LE version side-by-side. I'd like to see the difference in blade stock thickness - I understand it's .187 for Skinny and .220 for the LE. I'm wondering how big of a difference in the feel the stock difference represents because I can't imagine changing anything about the Skinny (well... maybe putting a satin finish on it and throwing Mag black G10s on her). :D

Thanks!

Not to hijack this thread or anything. But Rich, since you own all three which one is your favorite?

I wish I could answer that. Will York did a great job of comparing the three in a previous thread.

I love all three for different reasons. Sorry I can't give a favorite.

if it says anything I came ended up carrying the ashle instead of the others.

richstag,

Thanks very much for that photo! Helps out a lot. Thanks for the link too... that was a good read and feedback from W. York.

Any chance for another snapshot of the blades of the Skinny and LE? After reading York's post, I'm curious to see the blade grind differences. Thanks much!

This shows the balance Will was talking about also. Notice the skinny blade it touching the table using the talon hole as the pivot point.

Will hit the nail on the head in that tread you found Rich. That skinny's blade looks thinner at the spine. But is actually thicker in its overall grind being convexed.
What kind of edge do you have on your knives now Rich, their so nice looking.

But, with a beltsander the height of the edge can give a deceiving visual of the actual angle. It really comes down to how slack the belt is from my experience. If I made an edge on a very slack belt it will make a tall edge. If I used an almost flat belt and made the same height edge it would be much thinner. Either way, I came to like the way I did my ashle :)

Most knives, like my sebenza, I keep at the factory edge. If I ever sharpen my BWMLE I will just strop it. It already has a really nice edge.

It has all been a learning experience for me. An expensive one.

I was just wondering it looked kind of high on those two said knives i mentioned. They still look nice though.

Yeah, they are kind of high. I did both of them with my 1x30 HF and it had no adjustment. It was basically have a high grind or a round edge:D

If you looks at the spines of the knives at the tip you can see I really didn't take much off in terms of thickness.

I see that now, their pretty uniform though. I like that skinny, what about a skinny LE convexed.
