Hi,

I love the design of the Busse ASH1, and I think I'm going to buy one. My SARsquatch is superb and is a good slicer, but, it's like that, my trust goes with thick blades. The Busse ASH1 has a thick blade, a strong handle and a good tip; it's large but not too big.

I'd want to know : What is it for you : a fighter? a camp knife? an all around blade? Why you guys do you love this knife?

Thanks.

It is a heavy duty camp knife for me. Primary use is breaking down fire wood.

All around knife for me. Of course I have more knives than just an ASH1 but if I can only have one knife, I'd want the ASH by my side.

My ASH is still new but I can't wait to really use it,OD green blade w/black g-10 handle mmm mmm mmmm! Anyway the CG has a great heft,on the digital scale weighs 1.38 lbs.So far I chopped an inch thick sapling in half with one light chop, and notched a stick to hang a cooking pot on but thats about it.Also went through my knife fighting drills, and although it is heavy it balances good and strikes quickly.

The ASH-1 is an all-around knife for me. I love the feel and balance this knife offers.

I still do not have a use for my Skinny ASH it is just to large to use on the farm for daily tasks. The only real use I get out of it is the WOW factor when my friends look at it. My BATAC gets allot more use and my GW gets even more.

At 1.38 lbs it would make a heck of a throwing knife. If it hit you, you'd know it. I saw cutlerylovers' youtube video and when he placed it on the table there was a big CLANK. Would make the ultimate desk paperweight. Best use, the EDC sharpened splitting wedge.

I think we need to see the spine more in the photos. Some people would have no idea how thick these are.

I see the ASH1 as a combat/utility knife. I prefer the Skinny version, which isn't really skinny but normal thickness for such a knife. It is well balanced and with the magnum scales it feels great in my hand. I also have a 2007 SE version that is a touch thicker but with standard G10 handles, it doesn't feel as good to me. I have been thinking about ordering a standard in double cut with magnum G10 scales just to have the mondo version, but that would cost nearly as much as the LE. That would be a camp knife from hell.
