ASHBM LE - why no edition number etched on the blade?

That's a beautiful Mistress! LE in Busse lingo doesn't necessarily mean that there were a limited number made, and LEs don't always get numbered. The Fusion Battle Mistress LE did get numbers, but for the most part one could request a number, or ask for it sterile. LE more commonly is meant to convey a limited feature set that is not likely to be repeated. Another possibility is that your blade was sold as a show special. Between Blade and Knob Creek shows there were many variants of knives made. My own ASHBM is one such.

I'd have to guess some kind of one-off instead of an LE. I tried digging this one up in a few searches but am limited by the nanny software at work that blocks imgur among others.

Wow, thanks very much, let me know if you find anything please..... knew this was not a simple task... :)

Have you tried calling the shop ?
They are really the only ones that would know absolutely 100% what the story is.

Like most have said here it looks like an LE or even a more limited run or even a one off.

But only Busse knows for sure.

Not tried calling the shop but that would be a great idea! I will see what I can find out.... Many Thanks!

It appears that the ASHBM LEs weren't numbered, but yours doesn't have the 20th Anniversary logo that the original run of ASHBMs offered through the website had.
See here for the ASHBMLE offer page: http://web.archive.org/web/20140226...raight-handle-battle-mistress-limited-edition

So I'm guessing it was a ganzaaa or show blade.

LE's can come sanitized per request. I know because I ordered one of my FBM LE's as a sanitized version with no number and I also own an original SHBM LE all sanitized. And I know the person that ordered it and picked it up.

Looks very FAKE cant believe no other generous hogs offered to help you out, so here i am. I can dispose of this safely so it never makes another round. ill cover shipping as i feel bad you fell for this one last year.. Youve paid enough already..;)

Thanks for the information..... still waiting to hear back from Busse, called them on Thursday....

Could be one of a few different possibilities. Could have been a knife sold at a show or could have been a special request made by the original owner. I have no memory of that exact blade but there have been lots of knives through my hands over the years. If I had to guess based on the logo and the smooth handles I would say it was a show knife that would have been sold at either BLADE Show or Knob Creek. We would try to take some short run variants to the shows so the customers would have a chance at an iconic blade design with a few tweaks to make it something special and different. I can tell you for sure that it would be a rare ASHBM.

Hope that helps a bit,

Garth

Thanks so much Garth for your response, nice to know finally get some understanding on it, and greater understanding on the kind of custom work Busse does.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and help....!! 👍👍
