One man's discard is another man's treasure.

From the pics, I never cared for the jigged Asian Waterbuffalo.
Then I got a lead on a 110 Buckcote with those scales from Jim.
Next, a 110 BG42 from Gary.
And, as of today, a 110 Damascus from Decaff Dave.

The Damascus is moving into EDC rotation as I have wanted to try out a Damascus blade...this should be interesting, to me, as I haven't really used that steel...especially in serrated form.

Given that, I am looking for tips from all ya all regarding the sharpening of serrated.

.

wow i am glad you like it was worred i was
and i have tested DM on wet leather and it cuts great
that one ... bit me
i get bit a lot...
decaf dave .... hummm
i kinda like that better then 334 dave
yep i may change nick
to many know 334 cant spelll or type
least now you know were the 334 come from..
well i best not say any thing else

Nothing to worry about Dave.
It's awesome and I appreciate it coming from you.

Any tips on sharpening serrated Damascus?

humm have used thin diamond rod on the 124 i have that has them...
also used tugston rod from a tig welder that work well also
that knife is the only one with dm and finger groves with horn i have ever seen so i did not even think to use it ....

Buckaholic, have any of the three had any use yet? They all look pretty new to me.:D the one with the brass bolsters looks like it may have been sharpened.
sounds like decaf dave going into shock if you use that DM:eek:
Nice horns all the way around!

Hidey Ho Hoe3...
Yes, the one in the middle (110 Buckcote) has been used and sharpened. I have not sharpened it since I got it from Jim (WH4F). Jim sharpened it and I would imagine whomever had it before him did too. But I have used it relatively well. Great knife.

And you are right, after reading Dave's reply, I may not use the 110 Damascus Serrated. I'm thinking that I will....but also think that maybe I shouldn't...dunno yet...that knife just screams "I want to cut!!!".

Yes it was sharpened before I received it, I touched it up a tad, not much!
I can't believe you haven't sharpened it yet!! That was quite some time ago!
Is it still in the EDC rotation?
Come to think of it though, I havent sharpened mine yet either...
I love the Buckcote!

Those Buff handles are awesome Goose! Keep the pics coming!!

I use the Buck Knives Diamond taper sharpener for my serrated knives, works great.
Good luck!

goose i wont go in to shock ...
emotionly i am over it [i think i am anway]
to me it is like letting a daughter get married.. sniff sniff
yep it wants to cut some thing i can tell you like i said it bit me!
did you know sharp knives dont hurt as much as dull ones?

Gooser,,,

Lansky makes some hones for their clamp system, for serrated. They work good.

I even sharpened Dads electric knife blades once.....and last......much easier to trash and buy new ones...
