I have an asian water buffalo horn buck 110 knife. I really like it. I like the rich color of the buffalo horn. One of reasons I was attracted to it was of its black color. But I'm curious about one thing. Are all asian water buffalo horn mostly black? I've tried searching for pictures of Asian water buffalo horn handle knives. Of the handful of buffalo horns pictures I've seen, only 1 had a streak of color in it. Color of the streak was white. I'm curious, was that streak of color in the asian water buffalo horn the exception to the rule? Or are streaks of color in the horn more common?
Any answers to this would be helpful. Pictures of any more buffalo horn handle with color streaks would be great too. But that might be asking fir to much

It's normal to see some streaks of white and shade changes. I have a few and they all have it. That is why they usually ship the knives with natural markings card. Basically letting you know it is not a defect.

Thanks honestlyinsane. My has a couple shade changes to. But I never saw tge streak with the exception of that one time. I got that card too.

I have a smooth Asian water buffalo 110 and it has the striations in it. I have seen the horns on actual Asian water buffalo in my many travels with Uncle Sam's Army.

many colours....from medium blonde to dark black....the polishing compound darkens the horn too.

Mine are black.

I bought two small slabs that I will make a couple of 300 scales, one has a white streak or two, one very little if any on a quick look. 300

Color variation is widespread, including cream, brown and red colors, particularly in domestic buffalo horn sourced from India. Most of the horn taken from the wild here in Northern Australia is pure black.

Interestingly, buffalo horn framed spectacles are making a comeback.

Interesting about all tge different color variations. Guyon nice knife. I have the smooth handle with the standard buck blade.

Some people like the blond streaks in there buffalo horn , but I like mine black as night
just my opinion , this is my first custom Buck 110 by Leroy Remer .

Mine looks black in normal light. Just now I used a Maglite and with it it looks very dark brown with streaks along it. Never thought to look at to see if I could see the streaks but they are there. The streaks run along the knife.

Here is a picture of mine

Most of mine are jet black. The 401 in the center of the photo was the first one I got with white streaks and at first I was pissed (defective horn). The more I looked at it, the more I liked it as it was different, and unique.

Very nice knives. I think the streaks add character. I like both. the all black and ones with a streak. I've tried to post a picture of my 110, but i haven't been able too.

To post a picture, first the picture has to be on a hosting service like Photobucket. Then just copy the URL or IMG as it is called on Photobucket into the message.

I've had 2 Asian Buff 110's, one smooth and one jigged. Both were black, but had white/light gray striations in them.
