if you have questions or pic requests about the cold steel xl g10 espada make or ask them here and i'll try to answer them since mine just came in today.

this knife is made from the discarded hairs of chuck norris's beard. it's that damned awesome.

these pics probably won't mean much to anyone that's never handled a beretta 92fs, but to those that have it will speak volumes about it's size and mass.

Haha, the Espada XL is one completely ridiculous monster of a knife -- I laughed out loud the first time I took it out of the box and opened it.

My suggestion for pics would be side-by-side shots with various other folders, including some decently sized ones such as a Spyderco Endura, full-size BM Griptilian, CS Recon 1, CRK Large Sebenza, etc. It makes those knives look like (Spyderco) Ladybugs, and should help give people a sense of just how huge this knife really is.

That thing is huge. As neuron suggested, some side by side photos with other knives would be cool. Nice looking knife.

sorry but all i have is a crkt large crawford kasper, a spyderco tenacious, and a generic gas station folder.

by the way, 'waving" this one out of the pocket is a bit trickier than most other knives, this is a LOT of blade to manipulate!

Haha, until I reread the post, the bottom knife totally didn't even register as a Tenacious because it looked so tiny. :D

Ok... question for you, what have you USED your xl espada of awesomeness for?

so far it's been used for exactly what it was designed and intended for, making your surrounding family and friends eyes bug out and exclaim "what the ****?? what the hell do you need that for????"

lmao

Is there any chance that the web of your hand depresses the lock at all durring a tight grip?

no, no, no, and NO! as soon as i pulled it from the box i opened it and closed it and realized it was too tight so i clamped the lock down for 6 hours in a squeeze clamp and let it sit. after all that time i still have to make a concentrated effort to depress the lock with both hands, and i can almost touch my fingers on 1 hand through a tennis ball.

no sir you will most definitely not "accidentally' unlock this knife. a snowman would have more of a chance of making it through a 10$ tour of hell. opening it is easy, closing it is an actual chore.

Good to hear. I had a Rajah-2 and it was pretty easy to close, and the lock was positioned perfectly to where the web of my hand was right on top of it.

Anyhow, congrats on the knife, -I want one.

I got mine in the mail yesterday, I think a better comparison would be to actually compare it in size to fixed blades. The only fixed blade I have with an actually advantage over the blade is the Crkt Hisshou( in length) . The blade of the espada xl dwarfs a standard kabar's blade.

Why do companies keep making folding machetes? The handle just becomes unwieldy at that size.
