Hi everyone. I am in the market for a pair of excellent hiking boots and came across these. I have ankle issues due to arthritis so my feet in general are very sensitive to bumps and twists etc.

Anyone own a pair and have experience with extended use? I dont want to have to buy another pair of boots 2 years later. They cost about $300.

Thanks

Never heard a bad word spoken about Asolos, except for the price.

300.00 is a small price to pay for a great pair of boots, if you can afford it.

Asolo is one of the top brands in hiking boots from what I've researched and read, the biggest factor of course is fit on YOUR foot, I tried them on at REI and walked around in them, they felt great to me, good angle support, no hot spots, they're definitely quality, just depends on how they fit you.

For a bit more width, look into the Lowa Renegade, they make a wide version. Also HanWag makes wider boots. Many of the Scarpa boots are narrow, but the new Activ SL has more room. The ankle support with any of those boots may or may not be quite what you're looking for, but worth a try.

I also have wide fit and heel spurs. I tried on about everything and settled on a pair of Vasque St. Elias GTX. About $180, which is the single most expensive pair of boots I now own. Just got them today, so will start breaking them in soon.

Be certain to do the whole "tiptoe up the incline" thing at the store, so you can see if and how much your foot moves around in the heel portion of the boot. IMO that's a good indicator of potential blister-causing friction.
