ASP and Devel

They are/were indeed nice.

Also check out Detonics.

Detonics are nice too. I believe they are still owned by Jerry (now deceased), and Sharon Ahern.

I might be wrong about that, I see they are now based in Illinois, the Aherns were in Georgia.

this is the first i have heard of either. just did a bit of reading. interesting, for sure. thanks.

Jerry Ahern hired my father as a salesman to call on gun shops and Sporting goods stores back in the 1970's. I think one of the popular brands they were selling was Jack Ass holsters (now Galco) . I think that they were also selling Hi-Power (P-35) and Walther PPK clones from Hungary (FEG)
I remember Jerry as being a very bright and ambitious man.

I used to enjoy reading Jerry Ahern's Survivalist series of books, I must have 30 or 40 of them in a box in the basement.

Anyone know i fit is possible to get the GUTTERSNIPE SIGHT as furnished on the ASP. That was a very cool feature for sure.

Didn't he carry a Jack Crain or Bob Parrish Bowie? Of course he always had his Sting II. I remember in the early books he carried 2 Detonics in shoulder rig, a Python and a Colt Lawman snub. I bet he weighed a ton with all that hardware!

BOY SCOUT "Be Prepared"

And all he needed was a cell phone and the number 911 tattooed to his wrist, or so says my congressman.

Ive always liked the Guttersnipe sight but it never really caught on with the majority of handgun owners as its a SD sight and not optimal for target shooting etc.

Also takes a bit of getting used to.

Ive seen variations of it.

Further more, a Guttersnipe sight could be manufactured and installed from scratch by a competent gunsmith.

I agree, Any good machinist with a mill could make the sight.

Andy! Do tell the details!

Hi Brad -

One of my favorite carry pieces - a Kimber Custom Shop Ultra RCP II - (Refined Carry Pistol) -

It has the complete carry-melt with all areas rounded and contoured for quick presentation and easy carry, and that also means it has a gutter sight.

It takes some getting used to, but for SD at short range, it's just the ticket in my opinion.
